| Main Page | History The Valley Humane League was the first non profit organization established in the San Luis Valley. It started in the back yard of the late Loia Mottashed and was turned over to Liz Moor, the energetic and effective president. Unfortunately, Liz died in 2003 and the shelter languished for some time. In 2004, a new board was formed. Since this time, many improvements have taken place. Inside plumbing was installed, including restroom facilities; a well was dug, replacing the cistern, a septic system was installed, and operating room for the spay and neuter clinics was built and The Valley Humane League purchsed operating lights, scales, and autoclave and stainless steel kennels. The adjoining house was fixed up and a full tim caretaker exchanges rent for clenaing the ficility. This summer a room was renovated for kittens to roam freely.
